Claudia Ruiz

Born in Colombia in 1978, Claudia Ruiz lives and works in Switzerland. Her current work underscores the beauty and importance of coral reefs for our planet. Thanks to her own invention - a blend of nine different materials, including fine sand from the Sahara and American cotton - Claudia creates intricate, colourful and three-dimensional art objects.

At the age of nine, Claudia Ruiz began to paint in watercolour and attended various arts and crafts courses in addition to the school.

At the age of 16 she left her homeland to discover the world and studied art and graphic design in the USA.

Her love for nature is explained by her indigenous roots. Claudia loves nature above all else and wants to reflect its beauty in her art. In addition, Claudia Ruiz wants to pass on the message of her work, to take care of nature. Part of the proceeds of their paintings are used by various organisations and ONGs working to conserve and restore coral reefs.
