My ongoing subject matter is location based. I have only two aims when starting my paintings and that is to allow my chosen medium to be freely reactive towards another medium, whilst also creating illusions through the use of layering paint. This approach to painting reminds me to work on areas of control in conveying the suggestive qualities and different elements nature has to offer
My paintings are myself expression! Feeling and being a part of something greater than just the knowing of it, to me is living it, seeing it, touching it, hearing it, smelling it and responding whole heartedly to it. This is what comes naturally to me and makes my artwork and future practice worthwhile. The paintings then become something of their own within the studio. The changes they go through are to me like a dramatic opera such as Puccini's ‘Tosca’.
