Freelance photographer Claudio Allia understands the power of vision: as a trained medical eye-specialist, he has always been fascinated by the underlying processes behind the way we view the world.
After studying the eye at medical school, Claudio began studying photography and assisting in 1983. The advent of digital processes allowed him free rein with his creative concepts, enabling him to realise his intriguing surreal visions in pre and post-production processes.
A fine-art and reportage photographer, his images are always conceptual, whether he is shooting commercial commissions, advertising projects or a personal body of work.
It is Claudio’s opinion that there is a magical connection between the eye, soul and mind. Photography is the ideal art form for communicating with each element of this sensory trio. As a music-lover and writer, it is Claudio’s instinctive and natural impulse to translate each synaesthetic moment into a still image. Just as music translates simple sound waves into feelings, photography captures vision, colour and light in a form which transform the emotions.
Claudio adds layers to his images by experimenting with colours, filters and lighting. He enjoys using digital techniques to manipulate his images, heightening the surreal effect and blurring the line between reality and dreamstate. He sees no limit to what photography can achieve.
Claudio’s photographic work has received international awards and has been exhibited in New York City and Paris. He is currently seeking greater exposure for his photography and welcomes interest from agents and galleries.
