I read somewhere once that a man’s face is his autobiography. A crooked nose might tell you more about that man than a good lot of other things. It probably means he had an accident doing something he shouldn't have been doing, in which case you can assume he lives on the edge, or once did. Even if it was just that once. Maybe it’s from a hearty punch square to the face that indicated a fight won or lost, at least once. If nothing else it stirs the imagination enough to lend some gravitas. Cities tell these little vignettes as well in words that are the same in any language. All places have broken noses of their own- or don’t, which can be equally, if not more telling. If you look in the right spots you see love, hate, violence, irresponsibility, pride or grief. Bullet holes are the little broken noses of a city and should be appreciated as such. Because, just as is the case with a broken nose, if you saw it happen first hand you probably have quite a story to share.
