It’s been a shitty year, that’s for damn sure. Year of the Horse, my ass. All I got galloping around my life is a whole heap of trouble. And Goats are evil-looking buggers, so I don’t see how 2015 is going to improve by leaps and bounds. Tonight I put all that behind me and revel in another man’s luck. This serene plastic smile, so thoughtlessly pulled beneath rosy cheeks, is exactly the kind of face I need to slip on when the sun goes down. I’m forgetting my empty pockets and overflowing credit cards and slinging back the baijiu like it ain’t nobody’s business. It’ll hit this guy’s lips first of course, but it’ll still do the trick. This guy is doing all right. He’s got a girl at home and a job to gripe about in the baijiu haze tomorrow morning. Factory-made plastic isn’t exactly top of the line skincare, but I’ll take all the socially acceptable mask-wearing time that I can get.
