She didn’t intend for it to become what it was. What it is. It just meandered down a certain path, and she never stopped to consider if maybe she should back up, or step to the left, or even make a new path entirely. It went, so she went. It was freeing to lose control. So many plans and diagrams and lists had been spread out in front of her, and through the pile of details she couldn’t see that she didn’t even want to know about them anymore. Overnight, the title of her future had grown acidic on her tongue. So. She left. Dreams evaporated and new hopes began to flutter in their place. Here was everything, undulating in electric pulses beneath her feet. They would carry her, she knew. It wasn’t going to be an elaborate drama; she would just put one foot in front of the other. She set out, and she was out. That was that.
