Now, every time I feel that first warm breeze in late spring I’m young again. Just for a minute or two. In that instant I remember it all. You and me and too many cigarettes and too much whiskey and the first time we both did drugs. I remember you sneaking out of your house at 3:00 in the morning trying not to wake your parents and us laying in a boat out on the lake starring up at the universe and not knowing why it was so big but being glad we somehow met in a place that was. I remember us both making mistakes and feeling bad and wishing we had do-overs. I think about a lot of things when summer comes around but you by far the most. And just as quick as the breeze that brought it comes, it goes. And so did you and so did summer. But for just a couple minutes, we were young and it was summer again. That summer.
