My name is Jessie Pitt and i was born in Melbourne, Australia. I have been an artist my entire life with no memory of a beginning. It just is. I studied art for two years after high school and then have been travelling between Australia and Europe since then. I live and work in the mountains. I am fascinated by the constant changing light and moods to be found in the mountains and am not lacking in inspiration! I have exhibited both in Australia and in Europe in various places. In the coming years it is a goal of mine to travel and seek inspiration in different mountain locations throughout the world. I also capture spontaneous light and shadow moments wherever i am in photos.
Drawing Mediums
I use many different mediums, generally not focusing just on one but mixing them together to get the effect that I seek. Mediums such as compressed and willow charcoal, pastel, contè, acrylic paint, pencil, drawing ink. I am mainly drawing on paper but also paint on canvas both in oil and acrylic. I draw from photos, as the way I draw is time consuming and with rapidly changing light and cold temperatures drawing outside is not so pracical. So i carry a small camera in my pocket ready to capture everthing that inspires me, the photos are ust the first step in a long process to come to an end result. And even if my art my sometimes look like photos they are in no way a copy of a photo as every piece of artwork is dictated by me to create the ideas and images that I have in mind....
I am fascinated by the effect of light and shadow and the way it can change and effect colour, moods, shapes in the things that surround us. I find that mountains offer me unlimited inspiration to these themes and also as they are close to my heart, where I feel most happy and free. So when i am drawing mountains I often find myself not drawing mountains...but light and shadow that become mountains when i stand back. My drawings seem to come into focus from a distance and not always right up close. I find that the natural beauty of our planet offers limitless motivation and material to draw, that light and shadow is what defines what we see into shapes and things that we recognize and see around us...

关于作品:
I am predominantly a landscape artist and draw my inspiration from nature and as a main theme, mountains. As I live and work in the mountains most of the year I am lucky to be surrounded by the most amazing displays of Nature, in the lighting, the changing moods and the dramatic shapes.
The mediums I use have been in recent years dependent on what works best with how I am living and as I have been moving between two continents it has always been easier to take drawing materials with me and so I have developed my drawing skills to a much higher level than when I finished studying... it is interesting to see how over the years my skill develop and refine...
I love to take photos, they are my quick impressions of what I see and what I experience... the complete opposite to the longer more time consuming way that I draw... they balance off each other nicely... both being inspiration for the other
我的风格:
I am fascinated by light and shadow and the effects it can have on the mood and tone of an artwork, a landscape, on different forms and things... I often say that I am not drawing mountains but the light and shadow, and when I stand back there is a mountain!
So I guess my style is a type of realism, but it is also an impression of light and dark and forms that arise from the way light and dark interact with another....
My photography style is not meant to be technically perfect, in fact it is a long way away from that, i am instead fascinated by the instant, the memories, the quick impression of what I am experiencing with my eyes, to capture the moment... the light the impression....

To present what i see in way that other people also appreciate what i see... the intense beauty that surrounds us... in many forms... I definitely focus on the beauty and not on the ugly... This is something that was thought out it just is...

all of the above and whatever helps me create what it is i want to create!
I usually use a mix of mediums to create the effects that I want to achieve which include conté, drawing ink, pastel, gouche, pen, pencil, charcoal...
And for my photos I use a mix of cameras... my phone, Diana F+, Fisheye, and my panasonic lumix...
