West Lake Contemporary Art Gallery
Established in 1999, the gallery was renamed as West Lake Contemporary Art Gallery upon approval of the government. Located beside the West Lake which is at the diamond area, it is in the preserve building of Republic of China near China Academy of Art and Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. Dominated by academic research, the gallery has published and compiled dozens of academic collections and has held symposiums for many times, including the international symposium on archaeology and art history, and the forum of international art masters etc. Our Planning Department has planned almost one hundred exhibitions including the international contemporary art exhibitions for Germany, France, Canada, America, Hong Kong and Taiwan etc., the special show for oil painting of Asia international art exhibition, Special Song Dynasty Style International Contemporary Art Exhibition, the study exhibition of Chinese famous oil painters, the opening ceremony for China’s first session of new leaders for Love Increase Charity Fund, Hangzhou Municipal Government discovery and promotion program of youth artists, Hangzhou International Design Week, The 70th Anniversary for the Death of Cai Yuanpei, Yang Fudong DV Show, Performance Art Show for Seven Sins at Hangzhou etc. Currently, we are preparing for the nomination exhibition of global art museum directors (contemporary) which will be held once every five years. Our journal Art Celebrities which was initiated in 2006 is currently the only academic media in China that has ten thousand of domestic and oversea collectors as the delivery objects and enjoys wide influences. Based on the management on several hundred million Yuan of fund, the Business Department is committed to discovering, promoting and collecting potential artists, and forging strategic alliance with dozens of internationally well-known art galleries, institutes, art funds, media and governments, resulting in a top-end art industry chain and significant promotion for the art community in China, so it is a sample of small-scale art galleries!
