About
In 2012 Newzones celebrated 20 years in the Visual Arts in Canada. One of Canada's leading contemporary art galleries, Newzones promotes prominent Albertan, Canadian and international artists as well as young, up-and-coming artists both at home in Calgary, and internationally. The Gallery's program has an emphasis on process orientated artwork that challenges both the traditional use of materials and formal aesthetics.
Working with painting, sculpture, and photo-based artworks, Newzones has successfully developed new markets and strong regional, national, and international followings for its artists through an exciting program of curated exhibitions, international art fair participation, and publishing projects.
From its humble beginning in the boiler room of a converted steel plant, Newzones has flourished into a major voice in the international art community. Newzones' artists have been collected by premier museums such as the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Glenbow Museum, the Mendel Art Gallery, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum, NYC, MOMA, NYC, Hirshhorn, WA, and the Tel Aviv Museum, Israel, to name a few, as well as private collections world-wide.
