Hasted Kraeutler is a contemporary art gallery committed to the representation of innovative, established artists working across all mediums and hailing from around the world. Founded in 2005 in a third floor space on West 20th Street, the gallery is now located in a large ground floor space at 537 West 24th Street, in the heart of New York’s Chelsea art district, and it regularly collaborates in an advisory capacity with new and experienced collectors, museums and institutions.
Founding partner Sarah Hasted has been a curator and art dealer for over fifteen years. She is also actively involved in New York’s professional, institutional and academic photography communities, teaching at Parsons The New School for Design since 2003. In September of 2009, Joseph Kraeutler joined Sarah Hasted as partner, bringing over ten years of experience successfully managing and promoting artists through esteemed New York galleries and secondary market sales by way of a venerated international auction house. Together, their extensive knowledge of contemporary art and vintage photography has broadened Hasted Kraeutler’s outreach and programming to feature rare and important works and specially curated exhibitions.

Through their work, these artists embody a vast and varied range of contemporary artistic practice, working in innovative ways with all mediums and engaging the genres of narrative, landscape, still life, and portraiture while drawing from conceptualism and abstraction. Since opening its doors in 2005, Hasted Kraeutler has been home to singular, pioneering exhibitions and has helped foster the careers of some of the most original, wide-ranging, and international artists working today. The gallery’s artists have been featured on Thirteen’s Sunday Arts, the BBC series “The Genius of Photography,” and Albert Watson was recently the focus of a BBC documentary titled “What Do Artist’s Do All Day”. They are regularly recognized for their outstanding achievements by the National Endowment for the Arts, Prix Pictet, Ford Foundation, Guggenheim Foundation, the TED Prize, Deutsche Borse, W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund, and won many prestigious prizes such as The Johannes Vermeer Prize, Cannes Silver Lion Award, Grammy, Lucie, and The Royal Photographic Society’ Centenary Medal, among others.
