About
Acquavella is a family-owned gallery founded by Nicholas Acquavella in 1921. The gallery first specialized in works of the Italian Renaissance, but in 1960, when William Acquavella joined his father, the focus of the gallery expanded to major works of the 19th and 20th centuries, including masters of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism and Surrealism. Recently, William Acquavella has been joined by daughter Eleanor and sons Nicholas and Alexander, and the entire scope of the 20th century is now represented, including Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art.
For over eighty years, Acquavella has sold major paintings and sculpture to private collectors and museums worldwide. The gallery has presented museum-quality exhibitions of Monet, Degas, Cézanne, Sisley, Renoir, Pissarro, Modigliani, Bonnard, Tanguy, Léger, Picasso, Matisse, Rauschenberg, Feininger, Giacometti, Miró, Braque, and Freud.
Acquavella is the exclusive international agent for James Rosenquist, Wayne Thiebaud, Damian Loeb and Enoc Perez.
Michael Findlay, Esperanza Sobrino, Tsutomu Takashima, Ken Yeh, and Fiona Biberstein are the directors of Acquavella. Their combined experience represents a wide range of expertise in acquisition, appraisal and education. Business can be conducted in French, Italian, Japanese, German, Mandarin, Taiwanese, Hebrew, Spanish, and English.
Acquavella is located at 18 East 79th Street in New York City, occupying a five-story French neo-classical townhouse.
