About

BY THE WAY - is a contemporary art gallery, an art project built on a framework of five shop windows, initiated by artists Annette Kierulf and Ingrid Berven.

CONCEPT - art by way of “window shopping”. artists are invited to create projects especially for the windows located on one corner of a busy road junction. the projects are aimed at communication with both pedestrians and motorists.

LOCATION - Lars Hillesgt.1, in the vicinity of Bergen Kunstmuseum (Bergen Museum of Art) and Bergen Kunsthall. (Bergen Art Gallery). Lars Hillesgt.1. also accommodates a public toilet and storage space for The Park's Dept.

EXHIBITION - started in the autumn of 1999 with steadily new exhibitions on a monthly basis. the work is based on idealism and supported economically by Bergen Kommune (Bergen Local Council), Norsk Kulturfond (Norwegian Fund for Culture) and Vederlagsfondet (Remuneration Fund).
