Blu Kobalto (Claudia Apuzzo to the birth register) was born in Cesena, on 16 November 1979.
After graduating from an Art High School, she went on to study Art Conservation in Ravenna. She left these studies when she chanced upon Glass Fusion Art in 2001. After walking into a workshop in Cesena one day with the intention of buying a gift, she came out being offered an apprenticeship.
From 2001 to 2004, she worked for this company, where she learned the techniques of glass fusion in all its forms. In 2005, she started up her own company BLU KOBALTO, bringing to life a wealth of personal works from ornamental furnishings to design pieces, never giving up experimenting and searching for new techniques and material.
Not finding ornamental furnishings satisfying enough, she began to dedicate herself completely to design. The most complete example is the boutique hotel ‘RelaxandiA’, a lengthy project that began in 2005 and lasted three entire years.
Towards the end of 2006, an especially fecund collaboration sprang up after meeting the great artist Tonino Guerra, which brought to life numerous, original creations: Fanali di Tolstoj (Tolstoy lanterns) – Wall hangings in Murano glass - Mirror collages - L’albero di vetro (The glass tree) From 2006 to 2008 these artworks were exhibited at numerous exhibitions and events. Many were sold and some can be found at the Museum Il Mondo di Tonino Guerra (The world of Tonino Guerra), in Pennabilli, Italy.
Since the beginning of 2009, she has been dedicating herself to the creation of a new personal collection of Murano glass wall-hangings and sculptures, which are the result of aesthetic striving, but also of meticulous experimenting in new techniques.
